Customization is a system spread across The Den rather than one character-creator screen. Hawks and recruited Custom Operators have the broadest editable identity and combat fields; Authored Operators keep their story identity even when selected gear, appearance, or specialization options can be changed.

What you can change

  • Hawks: species, appearance, voice, clothing, and combat specialization.
  • Custom Operators: name, species, appearance, voice, clothing, primary specialization, talents, and weapon type.
  • Weapons: loadouts, modification slots, blaster models, and cosmetic colors.

The Recruitment Facility presents a rotating Custom Operator pool for Credits. After hiring a recruit, return to The Den to refine the setup and choose equipment for the next mission.

Why the boundaries matter

Changing a specialization or talent changes a combat role; changing a color or clothing changes presentation. Authored characters remain authored even when the menu allows selected edits, so customization does not erase their relationships or backstories.

How to avoid overclaiming

Use the current menu for the final field list and unlock timing. The official overview does not guarantee identical options for every character or a permanent cosmetic inventory across patches. Source: EA’s official gameplay overview, checked 2026-08-29.
